Reverend Jesse Jackson - Civil Rights Activist and Head of Operation Breadbasket

Reverend Jesse Jackson worked with Martin Luther King Jr. at the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and was the Head of Operation Breadbasket in Chicago which worked to pressure White-owned business to hire blacks and purchase goods and services from black-owned firms in the 1960s. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest honor bestowed on civilians in 2000.
