WISCONSIN HERD'S COMEBACK NOT ENOUGH

The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Westchester Knicks 115-111. The Herd opened the game with back-to-back three pointers and continued to hit three more to go five for nine (55.6%) in the first quarter. The Knicks completed a costly run in the second quarter to go ahead by 19 points at the half. The Herd tallied seven consecutive three-point shots to start the third quarter. Wisconsin outscored Westchester 20-10 to tie the game 106-106 in the fourth quarter. The two teams traded the lead five times before the Knicks ran away with the win.

The Herd was led by A.J. Green with 24 points while Joe Wieskamp added 18 points off the bench. Alize Johnson recorded his third double-double in a row with 14 points and 16 rebounds.

DaQuan Jeffries captained the Knicks with 33 points and 11 rebounds followed by Obadiah Noel with 18 points.

A.J. Green and Rob Edwards hit a three-pointer each to start the game for the Herd. Wisconsin combined for six more points to put them ahead for the first time 12-10. The Knicks responded with a 19-2 run to go ahead 32-17 at the four-minute mark.  Joe Wieskamp completed a free throw while Elijah Hughes added a jump shot to stop Westchester’s run. The two teamed up again to swish back-to-back three-point baskets. Alex Antetokounmpo threw down a dunk, but the Knicks secured the last basket of the quarter. The Knicks led 44-29 at the end of the first quarter.

The Herd outscored the Knicks 7-2 to bring them within 10 points in the beginning of the second quarter. The Herd continued the comeback scoring eight straight points. The two teams traded baskets until MarJon Beauchamp hit consecutive shots to bring the Herd within four. The Knicks answered by building a 19 point lead with two minutes remaining. Jordan Bone ended the quarter with a driving layup. The Knicks had the advantage 73-54 at the end of the first quarter. Alize Johnson guided the Herd with 12 points and six rebounds in the first half.

Wisconsin opened the third quarter with three succeeding three-point shots in the first two minutes. The Knicks came back with six straight points to grab a 21-point lead. The Herd added four more consecutive three-pointers. MarJon Beauchamp slammed a dunk while Joe Wieskamp scored one basket each. The Knicks powered ahead with six straight points but the Herd closed out the quarter with seven points to bring them within 10. The Knicks went ahead 96-86.

Westchester scored the first two baskets of the fourth quarter to put some distance between them and the Herd. Alize Johnson and Rob Edwards united for seven points to bring the Herd within nine points with nine minutes remaining. The Herd kept the energy alive hitting back-to-back three-point shots to cut down Westchester’s lead. Joe Wieskamp added a third consecutive three-point at the four minute mark. A free throw from MarJon Beauchamp tied the game 106-106 with three minutes remaining. The Knicks completed a free throw, but A.J. Green hit a huge three to put the Herd ahead for the first time since the first quarter. The Knicks drove home a layup but A.J. Green countered with a jump shot to put the Herd ahead 111-110. The Knicks secured the win with a three point shot and two free throws. The Knicks beat the Herd 115-111.

The Herd stays at home to take on the Windy City Bulls on Friday, February 3 with tip-off at 7:00 p.m. CST.
