WISCONSIN HERD STRIKES GOLD AGAINST GRAND RAPIDS

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat Grand Rapids Gold 129-114. The Herd took an early lead by 15 points in the first quarter and later pushed ahead by 23 in the second. The Gold made a small comeback to come within six points in the third quarter but the Herd didn’t let go of the lead. The Herd continued to dominate in the fourth quarter and secured the win 129-114.
Paris Bass led the Herd with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds while Bucks Two-Way Player A.J. Green followed with 25 points. Alex Antetokounmpo posted a career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Jack White paced the Gold with 34 points while Kellan Grady added 18 points.
A.J. Green and Paris Bass combined for the first five points of the game to put the Herd in an early lead. MarJon Beauchamp followed with six points to grab a double-digit lead for the Herd. Paris Bass and Lindell Wigginton teamed up to push the Herd ahead 20-15 at the eight-minute mark. The Gold made a small comeback to come within eight points, but the Herd countered the run increase the lead to 15 points. The two teams went back and forth until Alex Antetokounmpo made back-to-back baskets to give the Herd the 38-21 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Paris Bass threw down a huge dunk to start the second quarter. The Herd added two consecutive three-point shots before MarJon Beauchamp and Iverson Molinar put the Herd ahead by 23 points. The two teams traded baskets with MarJon Beauchamp, Alex Antetokounmpo and Lindell Wigginton posting two points each. Alex Antetkounmpo added uninterrupted baskets to increase the Herd’s lead to 21. The Gold outscored the Herd 13-5 in the last four minutes, but the Herd held on to lead 75-64. Paris Bass guided the Herd with 17 points.
The Herd opened the third quarter scoring the first four points. The Gold made a huge comeback outscoring the Herd 12-2 to come within seven points with eight-minutes remaining. A.J. Green threw in a three before the Gold scored six unanswered points cutting the Herd’s lead down to four. The Herd responded with eight points to take a 10-point advantage. Lindell Wigginton and A.J. Green pulled up for six points. The Herd swiftly carried out the lead to 99-87 at the end of the third quarter.
Lindell Wigginton scored the first basket of the fourth quarter putting the Herd above 100. A.J. Green added a jump shot while MarJon Beauchamp followed with a three-point play. The two teams went back and forth while the Herd increased to a 15-point lead with five minutes remaining in the game. Lindell Wigginton and Alex Antetokounmpo followed with a combined five points. The Gold made a small comeback to come within 13 points but it wasn’t enough to overthrow the lead. The Herd held on to win 129-114. The Herd will hit the road for their last game of the season against the Capital City Go-Go on Thursday, March 23 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
