WISCONSIN HERD SECURES WIN AGAINST CAPITAL CITY

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Capital City Go-Go 141-130. Paris Bass opened the game by scoring 10 of the Herd’s first 14 points. The Herd continued to dominate shooting 63.6% from the field and 83.3% from the three-point line. Alize Johnson guided the Herd to a 12-point lead at the half with 16 points in the second quarter. The Go-Go battled back in the third outscoring the Herd 41-34 and later took their second lead of the game at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The two teams traded the lead twice before the Herd ran away with the victory.
Alize Johnson posted his fifth double-double in a row and led all scorers with 32 points and 11 rebounds. Paris Bass followed with 24 points while Lindell Wigginton and Elijah Hughes added 22 points each.
Vernon Carey Jr. guided the Go-Go with 25 points while Kris Dunn secured 23 points.
The Capital City Go-Go took an early lead of 5 points but Paris Bass swished back-to-back three-point shots to put the Herd up 6-5 at the beginning of the game. The Go-Go powered up to a six-point lead before the Herd responded with 11 unanswered points. Capital City hit consecutive points to come within three, but Lindell Wigginton and Alize Johnson combined for four points to keep the Herd afloat. The Herd pushed ahead to a nine-point advantage and hit two straight threes to close out the quarter. Wisconsin led 38-27 at the end of the first quarter.
Alize Johnson scored 14 of the Herd’s first 16 points to begin the second quarter and put the Herd up by 12 points. The two teams battled back and forth with the Go-Go creeping to within eight points. The Herd answered with two straight baskets to put them ahead by 12 points again. Alize Johnson completed a hook shot to bring his total points to 20 while Lindell Wigginton followed with a three-point play. Capital City scored six points, but the Herd closed out the half with a 7-0 run. The Herd had a 72-60 advantage at the half. Alize Johnson led both teams with 20 points in the first half.
Lindell Wigginton completed a free throw to open the third quarter. Capital City got in one layup before the Herd hit back-to-back shots creating a lead of 16 points. Paris Bass and Alize Johnson teamed up for seven points while Rob Edwards added a three-point shot. Capital City slowly worked back by hitting four straight three-pointers to come within eight points. The Herd put their run at bay with six succeeding points. The Go-Go didn’t stay down and made another run outscoring the Herd 12-5 but the Herd remained ahead 106-101 at the end of the third quarter.
Capital City beat out the Herd to tie the game 108-108 at the 10-minute mark of the fourth quarter. Elijah Hughes completed a three-point play to put the Herd ahead but the Go-Go stole the lead, 112-111, for the first time since the first quarter. The two teams traded the lead two more times before the Herd ran away with a seven-point lead. The Capital City fought back to cut the Herd’s lead down to two points with five minutes remaining. Lindell Wigginton finished two sets of free throws to keep the Herd above. The Herd fed off the free throws to outscore the Go-Go 15-5 to secure the win 141-130.
The Herd continues their road trip and takes on the Delaware Blue Coats on Saturday, February 11 with tip-off set for 5:00 p.m. CST.
