WISCONSIN HERD OUTSHINES THE STARS

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Salt Lake City Stars 120-106. The Herd came out hot, scoring 31 points in the first quarter while keeping the Stars to 19 points. Wisconsin continued to dominate on both ends of the court adding another 31 points in the second quarter and developing a 21-point advantage at the half. Lindell Wigginton became a driving force for the Herd in the third quarter posting 17 of the Herd’s 37 points while shooting 100% from the field goal and three-point range. The Stars attempted to come back in the fourth quarter outscoring the Herd 34-21, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

Lindell Wigginton led all scorers with a career-high 41 points while Rob Edwards followed with 21 points. Paris Bass (17 points, 15 rebounds) and Jontay Porter (11 points, 13 rebounds) added a double-double each.

Christian Vital guided the Stars with 26 points while Jeenathan Williams added 15 points.

Rob Edwards hit the first basket of the game to put the Herd ahead early. The Stars answered with a three-point swish to grab the lead. The two teams traded the lead seven times before the Herd hit 12 unanswered points to go ahead by 11 points at the five-minute mark. The Stars answered by outscoring the Herd 9-2 to come within four points. Elijah Hughes and Rob Edwards hit back-to-back threes while Alex Antetokounmpo completed a free throw to put the Herd up 31-19 at the end of the first quarter.

The Herd opened the second quarter by scoring the first three baskets and pushing ahead to a 19-point lead. The two teams traded baskets until Rob Edwards and Paris Bass combined for five points. The Herd continued to dominate the game pushing ahead to a 28-point lead with six minutes remaining. The Stars completed two sets of free throws, but the Herd answered with five straight points. The Stars outscored the Herd 13-5, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead. The Herd had the advantage of 62-41 at the end of the first half.

Wisconsin hit back-to-back three-point baskets to begin the third quarter. Lindell Wigginton kept the Herd on track with eight straight points. Jontay Porter completed a layup to put the Herd up 78-51 at the seven-minute mark. The Stars responded with nine unanswered points to cut the Herd’s lead down to 18. Lindell Wigginton hit a layup to put an end to Salt Lake City’s run. The Herd carried that momentum into a 17-5 run to take a 32-point advantage at the two-minute mark. The Herd stayed ahead 99-72 at the end of the third quarter.

The Stars finished the first two baskets of the fourth quarter, but Jontay Porter answered with a three-point shot. Salt Lake City scored the next six points before Alize Johnson and Lindell Wigginton hit succeeding baskets. The Stars crawled back cutting the Herd’s lead down to 17 points at the four-minute mark. Lindell Wigginton stopped the Stars' comeback with a three-point shot. The Stars answered with back-to-back threes. Lindell Wigginton secured the win for the Herd, scoring nine of the Herd’s last points bringing his total to a career-high 41 points. The Herd beat the Stars 120-106.

The Herd returns home on Saturday, March 4th against the Windy City Bulls with a tip-off set for 11:30 a.m. CST.
