WISCONSIN HERD EARNS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Iowa Wolves 108-104. Stevie Thompson Jr. powered the Herd with 10 points in the first quarter to bring them within two points at the end of the first quarter. The two teams traded the lead 4 times during the second quarter, but Iowa ultimately came out on top 45-44 at half. The Wolves continued to increase their edge outscoring the Herd 33-25 in the third quarter. The Herd forced its way back in the fourth quarter with a huge comeback propelled by Elijah Hughes with 13 points. In the end, the Herd converted seven free throws in the last minute of the game to secure the win.

Elijah Hughes led the Herd with 20 points while Stevie Thompson Jr. added 19 points.

Phillip Wheeler guided the Wolves with 20 points while Trevor Keels followed with 19 points.

Wenyen Gabriel hit the first basket of the game, but the Iowa Wolves responded with a swift 8-0 run to take the lead. Wisconsin brought home consecutive three-pointers to tie the game. Stevie Thompson Jr. added seven straight points to give the Herd a 17-14 advantage.  Iowa sneaked back into the forefront at the three-minute mark, 18-17. The two teams traded the lead once more before the Wolves went ahead 25-23 at the end of the first.

The Herd scored the first three points to take control of the game. The teams tied twice before Iowa went ahead and held the upper hand for three minutes. Alex Antetokounmpo pushed the Herd on top with a layup at the five-minute mark. Iowa was quick to respond going ahead 39-38. The Herd stayed close but came up short by one at a half. Iowa led 45-44 at the break. Stevie Thompson Jr. guided the team with 12 points in the half.

Glenn Robinson III and Drew Timme combined for five points to put the Herd ahead early in the third quarter. The game quickly turned into a back-and-forth battle with each team answering the other's basket. After seven lead changes, Elijah Hughes sunk a free throw to give the Herd the edge. The Herd battled to stay close, but Iowa slowly increased its advantage to nine at the end of the third quarter 78-69.

Elijah Hughes opened the fourth quarter with eight consecutive points, but it wasn’t enough to bring the Wolves down. Iowa built its lead to double digits with ten minutes remaining in the game. Wenyen Gabriel and Iverson Molinar teamed up for six points to bring the Herd within two points. The Wolves stayed ahead building to an eight-point advantage. The Herd rallied with an electric 9-2 run to cut Iowa’s lead to one point with two minutes remaining. Iowa threw in one basket before Glenn Robinson III nailed a three-point basket to tie the game 91-91.  Wenyen Gabriel added a hook shot to put the Herd up 101-99 with less than a minute remaining. Kihei Clark converted on two free throws to give the Herd a four-point advantage. The Wolves answered with a quick dunk but Elijah Hughes completed two more free throws to keep the Herd ahead. Kihei Clark and Glenn Robinson III both were sent to the line and secured the win with three free throws. The Herd beat the Wolves 108-104.

The Herd will take on the Iowa Wolves for a second time at home on Saturday, November 18 with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
