WISCONSIN HERD DEFEATED BY WINDY CITY BULLS

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Windy City Bulls 120-102. The Bulls came out strong taking an early double-digit lead. The Herd tried to battle back in the first quarter, but the run did not come till the second quarter when the Herd took their first lead of the game. Windy City came back to lead the game at the half 63-58. The Herd’s second vital run of the game came in the third quarter taking the lead 79-77. The Bulls answered with 10 straight points to go up 93-89 at the end of the third quarter.  The Herd battled back to within one during the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win.

Milwaukee Bucks assignment player, MarJon Beauchamp led the Herd with 18 points while Deividas Sirvydis and Lindell Wigginton added 14 each. Jontay Porter posted a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds and became the Herd’s All-Time Leader in Blocks with 61 in his Herd Career.

Carlik Jones guided the Windy City Bulls with 25 points while Ethan Thompson added 14 points.

The Bulls started the game strong taking a 14-2 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first quarter. Lindell Wigginton and Rob Edwards each hit a basket before the Bulls pushed ahead to a 16-point advantage. The two teams traded baskets until Jontay Porter hit a three-point play to bring the Bulls’ lead to 15. Elijah Hughes hit back-to-back shots with less than a minute left but the Bulls closed out the quarter 38-22.

MarJon Beauchamp and Jontay Porter hit consecutive three-point shots to open the second quarter. The Herd continued the momentum, scoring 18 unanswered points and taking the lead for the first time. During the huge run, Jontay Porter swatted his second block of game to tie the Herd’s franchise record of 60 blocks. The Bulls stole the lead back with seven straight points. The Herd battled back to within one twice before the Bulls built an eight-point lead. Windy City held on to lead 63-58 at the end of the first half. MarJon Beauchamp and Deividas Sirvydis led the Herd with 10 points each.

The Bulls hit the first points of the third quarter but MarJon Beauchamp answered with his second three of the game. The two teams traded baskets until the Herd hit four three-pointers to tie the game 75-75. The Bulls responded with a two-point shot but Paris Bass and Rob Edwards pushed the Herd ahead 79-77 at the four-minute mark. Elijah Hughes completed six points while Iverson Molinar added two launching the Herd ahead, but the Bulls came back to lead 93-89.

Windy City scored the first basket of the fourth quarter, but the Herd answered with back-to-back shots to come within one point. Jontay Porter secured his third block of the game to propel past Christian Wood to become the All-Time Leader in Blocks in Herd History. The Bulls replied with seven straight points to go ahead by eight. Deividas Sirvydis and Jontay Porter each scored two points before the Bulls charged ahead to a 12-point advantage. MarJon Beauchamp hit a layup but it wasn’t enough to slow down the Bulls. Windy City outscored the Herd 10-2 in the last three minutes to win 120-102.

The Herd will head to the Lakeland Magic on Tuesday, March 7 with tip-off set for 9:30 a.m. CST.
