EARN SECOND REGULAR SEASON WIN
The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Raptors 905 with a final score of 104 – 94. For the second consecutive game for the regular season, the Herd dominated defensively keeping the opponent to less than 100 points while also shooting over 50% from the field.
Wenyen Gabriel propelled the Herd to the win with 28 points while TyTy Washington Jr. followed with 23. Marques Bolden added a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Raptors 905 top scorer was Justise Winslow with 20 points and Mouhamadou Gueye added 16 points.
The 905 hit the first basket of the game but the Herd was quick to answer with four straight points to take the advantage. The teams exchanged the lead twice before the Herd pushed ahead by six points. Wisconsin continued to dominate offensively, going up by double digits with three minutes remaining in the first. The Herd closed out the quarter outscoring the Raptors 10-4 to lead 35-19 at the break. Wenyen Gabriel and Marques Bolden led both teams with 10 apiece.
Elijah Hughes and Kihei Clark combined for six points to give the Herd a near 20-point upper hand to open the second quarter. The 905 responded with an 8-2 run to come within 12 points. Both teams turned on strong defense with neither scoring for the next two minutes. The Raptors ended the scoreless period with three baskets to cut down the Herd’s double-digit lead. Wenyen Gabriel hit back-to-back baskets before the 905 made it a six-point game. TyTy Washington Jr. responded with two baskets to end the half. The Herd led 53-43. Wenyen Gabriel guided the Herd with 16 points.
Wenyen Gabriel knocked down a three-pointer to start the third quarter. The Raptors answered with seven consecutive points to reduce the Herd’s lead. The teams then traded baskets keeping the Herd’s lead in double-digits until the 905 hit back-to-back shots to slash the lead to nine points. The Raptors continued to get closer to the Herd coming within seven points at the two-minute mark. Wisconsin hit one last fee throw to go up 74-66 at the end of the third quarter.
Jazian Gortman and Drew Timme teamed up to score the first seven points of the fourth quarter. The Raptors hit one shot before TyTy Washington Jr. hit the next five points for the Herd to go up 86-70. The 905 responded with eight unanswered points. The teams traded baskets for the next four minutes until the 905 went on a 7-0 run to come within five points. Wenyen Gabriel and Marques Bolden combined for six successive points to put the Herd back up by double digits. The Raptors scored the next four points, but Glenn Robinson III converted a shot beyond the arc to secure the win 104-94 for the Herd.
The Herd will return home for a back-to-back series with the Greensboro Swarm with the first game on January 5 with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
