WENYEN GABRIEL EARNS FOURTH NBA 10-DAY CONTRACT

OSHKOSH, Wis. (January 30, 2022) – The New Orleans Pelicans announced they have signed Wisconsin Herd forward Wenyen Gabriel to a 10-day hardship contract. This is Gabriel’s second call-up and his fourth 10-day contract this season. The Wisconsin Herd has had seven call-ups this season.

Gabriel signed his first 10-day contract of the season with the Brooklyn Nets on December 21, 2021. Before returning to the Herd, Wenyen Gabriel signed a 10-day contract with the Clippers on December 31, 2021. He signed a second 10-day with the Clippers on January 11, 2021. During those contracts, Gabriel appeared in six games averaging 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds.

Gabriel has appeared in 14 games (12 starts) for the Wisconsin Herd this season, averaging 14.1 points on .464 percent shooting from the field and .350 percent shooting from three-point range, 8.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.7 steals and 2.1 blocks in 25.9 minutes per contest.

A hardship contract is a temporary roster spot that allows teams to add more players beyond their roster limit. Teams are allowed to do this when they have experienced multiple players being out due to injury or illness. 

The Wisconsin Herd will play on the road against the Lakeland Magic on February 3 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
