PARIS BASS SCORES 50 POINTS IN HERD’S LOSS TO DELAWARE

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Delaware Blue Coats 166-139. The Herd overcame a 15-point deficit to come within one point at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Coats slowly pushed ahead in the second quarter and later outscored the Herd 16-2 at the beginning of the third quarter to secure a 13-point lead. The Herd battled to stay close but the Blue Coats’ lead remained untouched.

Paris Bass set a new career high and a new Herd record for most points scored in a game with 50 points and 11 rebounds. Lindell Wigginton followed with 23 points while Alize Johnson added a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Mac McClung posted a Blue Coats high of 35 points while assignment player Jaden Springer added 30 points.

The Blue Coats stole an early lead before Iverson Molinar completed a free throw to put the Herd on the board at the beginning of the game. The Blue Coats pushed ahead to a 15-point advantage by answering every Herd basket with two of their own. Alize Johnson and Elijah Hughes combined for five points to cut Delaware’s lead down to 10. The Herd proceeded with eight unanswered points to come within six points. The two teams traded baskets until the Herd hit an 8-0 run to take the lead for the first time. Delaware hit the last basket of the quarter to go ahead 43-42 at the end of the first quarter.

Lindell Wigginton hit six of the Herd’s first eight points to open the second quarter. Rob Edwards and Elijah Hughes hit back-to-back threes to tie the game 56-56 at the seven-minute mark. The Blue Coats responded with 10 unanswered points. Paris Bass hit a three-point shot to stop Delaware’s run and Iverson Molinar followed with a layup. The Blue Coats charged ahead again with a 7-0 run bringing their lead to 12 points. Paris Bass and Lindell Wigginton united for nine points to close out the second quarter. The Blue Coats had the advantage of 80-70 at the end of the first half.

Delaware opened the third quarter outscoring the Herd 16-3. Paris Bass scored nine of the Herd’s first 11 points to cut the Blue Coats’ advantage down to 14 points. Lindell Wigginton secured two sets of free throws at the seven-minute mark. The two teams traded baskets until Paris Bass hit eight straight points. Delaware followed with four points to end the third quarter up 119-102.

The Blue Coats hit a three-point shot to open the fourth quarter, but Elijah Hughes answered with his own three-point shot. The Herd answered every Delaware basket until Paris Bass hit back-to-back baskets to bring his total points to 42. The Herd continued this comeback with six unanswered points to come within 16 points. Delaware stopped the Herd in their tracks with eight succeeding points. Paris Bass and Lindell Wigginton worked together for six points at the five-minute mark. Rob Edwards followed with a three while Jaire Grayer completed a three-point play. Paris Bass closed out the game with four points to bring his total to 50 points for the night. The Delaware Blue Coats beat the Herd 166-139.

The Herd continues their road trip to the Cleveland Charge on Tuesday, February 14with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
