HERD WIPES OUT THE RAPTORS

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Raptors 905 with a final score of 105-85.

Malachi Smith powered the Herd with 18 points while Wenyen Gabriel followed with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Six Herd players finished in double-digits for points.

The Raptors 905 top scorers were Darryl Morsell with 19 points and and Jaiden Delaire added 15 points.  

Ryan Rollins and Glenn Robinson III combined for the first five points of the game to give the Herd an early lead. Wisconsin continued the momentum pulling away with an 11-2 run within the first four minutes. The teams traded baskets before Wenyen Gabriel propelled the Herd to a 10+ point lead with seven straight points. The Raptors responded with a small comeback of nine unanswered points to bring them within five. Malachi Smith broke up the 905 run with a layup but the Raptors continued to crawl back making it a two-point game. The Herd closed out the first quarter with back-to-back layups to take a 27-20 advantage.

The 905 opened the second quarter with a 10-2 run to take their first lead. James Akinjo and Jaylin Galloway teamed up for five points to put the Herd over the top. Wisconsin connected on two more three-pointers before Glenn Robinson III converted a three-point play to give the Herd an 11-point edge. Wisconsin held on to lead 47-41 at the break. TyTy Washington Jr. and Wenyen Gabriel propelled the Herd with nine points apiece in the first half.

Raptors made it a three-point game early in the third quarter after a 5-2 run. Wisconsin took back control with three consecutive baskets to grab a 10-point advantage. The teams went back and forth with the Herd holding a steady double-digit lead. Wisconsin broke away and pushed ahead 67-52 at the two-minute mark. The 905 answered with a 12-5 run to come within eight at the end of the third quarter. The Herd led 72-64.

Wisconsin got hot in the fourth quarter hitting the first seven points and going up by 21 The Raptors responded with back-to-back baskets to cut into the Herd’s 20-point lead. James Akinjo and Jaylin Galloway answered with six points to put Wisconsin ahead 93-72 midway through the quarter. The 905 tried to make a comeback but the Herd had an answer for every basket, only letting the lead get to as low as 17 for the last five minutes of the quarter. Wisconsin finished out the game strong and beat the Raptors 105-85.

The Herd will return to Wisconsin for the final regular season home game on Wednesday, March 27 against the Indiana Mad Ants with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CT.
