HERD SUFFERS FIRST REGULAR SEASON LOSS

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Stockton Kings 107-81.

Glenn Robinson III and Elijah Hughes led the Herd with 12 points each while Wenyen Gabriel added a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Stockton Kings’ top scorer was Skal Labissiere with 21 points followed by Jordan Ford with 20 points.

Drew Timme and Glenn Robinson III teamed up to score the first two baskets of the game. Stockton was quick to answer with seven straight points stealing the lead from the Herd. The teams traded baskets until the Kings hit back-to-back to go up by seven. Wisconsin converted on the next two shots, but it wasn’t enough to go ahead. Kihei Clark made a last-second layup to put the Herd within one (23-22) at the end of the first quarter.

Skal Labissiere hit the first two baskets of the second quarter to give the Kings a five-point advantage. The Herd proceeded to outscore the Kings 12-5 to take the edge for the first time since the beginning of the game. The teams traded the lead twice before the Herd pushed ahead 45-43 at the break. Glenn Robinson III guided the Herd with eight points in the first half.  

The Kings hit two consecutive shots to take the lead early in the third quarter. The Herd went ahead once more before Stockton scored a 14-2 run to take a double-digit advantage. Wenyen Gabriel hit a layup to put a brief pause before the Kings scored eight straight points. Stockton increased to 21 21-point head start at the one-minute mark. Elijah Hughes converted a free throw, but the Kings hit two last-minute three-point shots to take an 84-59 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Wisconsin outscored the Kings 12-5 in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter to come within 18 points. The teams exchanged baskets until the Kings converted three straight buckets to grab a near 30-point lead. Sam Peek and Jazian Gortman combined for six points to close out the game. The Kings beat the Herd 107-81.

The Wisconsin Herd will hit the road for a back-to-back series against the Mexico City Capitanes with the first game on Friday, Jan.12 with tip-off set for 8:00 p.m. CST.
