HERD DROPS FIRST GAME OF BACK-TO-BACK AGAINST SKYHAWKS

The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the College Park Skyhawks 116-92.
Milwaukee Bucks two-way player TyTy Washington Jr. led the Herd with 15 points while Drew Timme added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
The College Park Skyhawks’ top scorer was Kobe Bufkin with 25 points followed by Robert Baker and Brandon Randolph with 17 points each.
The Skyhawks put up the first points of the game, but Marques Bolden was quick to even the game with a hook shot. TyTy Washington Jr. followed with a jump shot to give the Herd their first lead of the game. College Park responded with two straight baskets but a three-pointer by TyTy Washington Jr. evened the game once again at 7-7. The teams battled back and forth until the Skyhawks built a five-point advantage at the five-minute mark. The Skyhawks continued to push ahead to a near double-digit edge. The Herd countered with three consecutive three-pointers to make it a two-point game, but the Skyhawks held on to lead 34-31 at the end of the first quarter.
College Park launched the second quarter with a basket, but the Herd countered with sequential shots to come within one. The Skyhawks converted a deadly 12-2 run to take a double-digit point advantage. The Herd completed two shots before College Park charged ahead 63-47 with two minutes remaining. The teams traded buckets, but the Skyhawks slowly gained a 20-point lead. A last-second layup by Glenn Robinson III broke the 20-point head start. The Skyhawks led 73-55 at the break. TyTy Washington Jr. guided the Herd with 13 points.
Wisconsin opened the quarter with a crucial 10-4 run to come within 12. The teams battled resulting in the Herd keeping the Skyhawks’ lead between 17-12. College Park hit the last two baskets of the quarter to go up 90-74.
Malachi Smith converted from beyond the arc to get the fourth quarter started for the Herd while Wenyen Gabriel followed with two dunks. The Skyhawks responded with 15 unanswered points putting the Herd in a 30-point deficit. The Herd hit a run of their own with three straight baskets. The Skyhawks swished one three before the Herd scored four consecutive points. College Park put in one more basket to secure the win 116-92.
The Herd will take on the College Park Skyhawks in the second game of the back-to-back series tomorrow Thursday, Jan. 18 with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
