HERD COMPLETES 33-POINT COMEBACK TO WIN

The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Greensboro Swarm 115-112. The Greensboro Swarm opened the game with an opponent season high for points scored in the first quarter with 43 points and later flew away with a 75-47 head start at the end of the first half. The Herd dominated defensively to keep the Swarm to 19 points while scoring double that with 38 points. The Herd took the lead in the beginning of the fourth quarter for the first time since the first quarter. The fourth quarter was a tough battle resulting in seven lead changes and four times tied. Elijah Hughes and Paris Bass hit two late baskets to secure the win for the Herd.

Paris Bass led the Herd with a career-high of 35 points and 12 rebounds while Elijah Hughes added 22 points. Iverson Molinar also posted a career-high 21 points.

Kobi Simmons guided the Swarm with 27 points followed by Theo Maledon with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Iverson Molinar scored the first basket of the game and gave the Herd an early lead. The Swarm answered with the next nine straight points to go ahead. The Herd continued to push ahead to a 27-13 lead, all 13 Herd points were scored by Iverson Molinar. Alex Antetokounmpo entered the game for the first time and hit succeeding threes to bring the Herd within nine points. The Swarm countered with a 13-0 run, but Paris Bass hit a last-second three-point shot to close out the first quarter. The Swarm led 43-24 at the end of the first quarter.

The Swarm opened the second quarter with a three-point shot but Paris Bass answered with a fadeaway jump shot. The two teams went back and forth with Elijah Hughes hitting five consecutive points. The Swarm went up 68-35 but the Herd rallied with six straight points to cut down the Swarm’s lead. The Herd finished the quarter with back-to-back threes from Elijah Hughes and Rob Edwards. The Swarm had the advantage 75-47 at the end of the first half. Iverson Molinar led the Herd with 15 points in the first half.

The Herd scored six points in a row to begin the third quarter. The Swarm answered with three straight three-point baskets to grow their lead. The Herd rallied with a massive comeback 20-0 run to break the Swarm’s lead down to 11. Rob Edwards and Jordan Bone continued the resurgence with five points each to close out the third quarter. The Swarm remained ahead 92-85.

Wisconsin dominated at the beginning of the fourth quarter with 10 unanswered points to take the lead 95-94. The Swarm responded with eight points to take the edge, but it didn’t last for long. The Herd hit nine points including uninterrupted baskets from Elijah Hughes to steal the lead again. Greensboro charged ahead again to 110-107 but Iverson Molinar and Rob Edwards scored two points each to push the Herd up 111-110. The Swarm hit two more free throws to take the upper hand, but Paris Bass and Elijah Hughes secured the win for the Herd 115-112.

The Herd will take on the Greensboro Swarm in the second game of the back-to-back series tomorrow, January 28 with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
